I successfully planned and executed the installation of a new copper flash smelting furnace, hoods, evaporative cooling chambers, off-gas cooling and cleaning system, a 1,830 metric tonne per day (2,020 short tons per day) sulfuric acid plant, bulk storage tanks, and all related auxiliary services at the RTB Bor copper smelter in Serbia.
Key challenges included coordination of multiple heavy lifts in a live operational smelter, precise placement of large vessels and structural components, limited site access, and strict safety requirements in a high-temperature, hazardous environment.
Equipment used:
Multiple cranes with capacities ranging from 80 t to 500 t (220,000 lb to 1,102,000 lb)
Custom rigging configurations for safe handling of oversized vessels and furnace elements
All lifts and installations were completed safely and on schedule, with zero lost-time incidents and full compliance with safety protocols in a high-risk industrial setting.
