I successfully planned and executed a multi-crane lift and precise installation of a 151,000 lb rectification column (174 ft tall) to a height of 348 ft inside a highly confined 23 ft × 23 ft structure at the Messer Coldbox project in Bor, Serbia.
Key challenges included extremely limited space, tight clearances around existing equipment, live operational environment, and the need for precise boom angle control and tailing to avoid any contact or damage.
Equipment used:
Main crane: 500 t crawler crane
Auxiliary / tailing crane: 220 t mobile crane
Additional support crane: 110 t unit
Multi-crane configuration (three cranes) with custom rigging and tailing devices for load control and stability
The lift was completed safely and on schedule, with zero incidents and full compliance to safety protocols in a high-risk confined space.
